5 ways to celebrate Texas Independence Day in the Hill Country

It's almost time to celebrate Texas Independence Day!

Every year, Texans come together to honor the day of the Lone Star State's independence. From parades to live music and painting with your friends, there are plenty of exciting activities to take part in. The Hill Country is full of events and activities that honor this important piece of Texas history.

Texas Independence Day is the celebration of the adoption of the Texas Declaration of Independence on March 2, 1836. With this document signed by 59 delegates, settlers in Mexican Texas officially declared independence from Mexico and created the Republic of Texas.

 

1. Gene Watson Live at Brauntex: Head over to Brauntex Performing Arts Theatre for a live performance by country legend Gene Watson. You won’t want to miss this one-night-only performance from one of the greatest voices in country music. The show starts at 7:30pm and tickets can be purchased online.



2. Texas Independence Day Celebration in Luckenbach: Celebrate Texas Independence and view the Official Texas Flag retirement ceremony w/Former Texas Rangers. This year the Texas Rangers will be celebrating their 200 year anniversary and on-site they will have a Texas Rangers Memorabilia display, Cannon Fire, and live music. Visit website.



3. Gruene, Texas Independence Day Party: There’s no better place to celebrate than in Gruene, Texas! This annual event features live music, BBQ, beer gardens, and more. Get there early and spend the day enjoying everything Gruene has to offer. Visit website.
